How it works:
Part I of the Orthotic Fitter Course is completed self-paced online via Distance Learning. Part II of the Orthotic Fitter Course is completed during a live, in-person class that spans two eight-hour days. This portion of the course consists of completion of various lab assignments, demonstrated by the instructor and reproduced by the students. Various case studies will be discussed throughout the class. Each student will be assessed on indications/contraindications for the device, successful identification of pertinent landmarks and measuring techniques, successful donning of the device and making any necessary adjustments to fit, instructing the mock patient in donning, doffing and care of the device, and troubleshooting fit. This portion of the class is estimated to take 16 hours (two 8-hour days) to complete. This portion of the class must be taken within 6 months of completion of Part I of the Orthotic Fitter course.
Successful completion of all assignments is required for eligibility to take the final exam. Successful completion of the final exam with a score of 70% or greater is required for successful completion of the course and certificate award.
